Moundville Farmers Market Grand Opening Set for Tuesday with Fresh Local Finds
Shop local and celebrate the summer season as the Moundville Farmers Market hosts its Grand Opening on Tuesday, June 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Square, 304 Market Street in downtown Moundville.
According to the press release, “The market will be open every Tuesday through July 28 (season subject to change), offering fresh, locally grown products while creating a welcoming space for neighbors to gather, support local growers, and strengthen community connections.”
Created to do more than offer a place to shop, the Moundville Farmers Market serves as a gathering space that supports local agriculture, promotes healthier lifestyles, and strengthens community connections.
Community involvement has been central to the market’s vision from the very beginning. The Moundville Farmers Market’s slogan, "Rooted in Community, Grown with Care,” was selected through a community-wide effort. Market Manager Susie Patrick encouraged residents to submit slogan ideas, and the public voted for the winner. Savanna Wooley’s submission captured the spirit and vision of the market created by and for the community.
“This market is about much more than buying fresh produce," said Patrick. "It's about creating a place where neighbors can gather, families can connect, and local growers are supported. From asking the community to help choose our slogan to inviting volunteers to serve on our Farmers Market Board, we've wanted this to be a community effort from the very beginning. My hope is that the Moundville Farmers Market becomes a tradition that grows stronger with each passing year."

Patrick also expressed her appreciation to Moundville Mayor Tony Lester for supporting the effort to establish the market. She also shared that the market is looking for three community volunteers to join the Moundville Farmers Market Board. Board members will help support vendors, uphold market guidelines, and play an active role in the market’s continued growth and success.
