“There is a good bit of uncertainty with the timing of the front, which could impact the severity of severe storms expected,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Monday and Tuesday we can expect temperatures in Alabama to rise into the 60s and 70s along with a “good supply of sunshine. Dry and mild weather continues tomorrow with a partly sunny sky,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist

Mid-Week Severe Weather Threat Details

Spann reports that “clouds will increase Wednesday... the day will be mild with most of the state in the 70s by afternoon. Rain returns to the state Wednesday night into Thursday; SPC has defined a low-end "marginal risk" (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for much of the state in their "Day 3" outlook, which runs through 6:00 a.m. Thursday.”

Potential Timeline

The timing of this possible threat could shift some due to weather conditions leading up to his weather event. At this time “the main batch of rain and storms will arrive after midnight Wednesday night, with very little surface-based instability. This should keep the severe weather threat rather low. Still, a few thunderstorms could produce gusty winds, and a brief isolated tornado can't be totally ruled out. Most of the rain will shift into East and South Alabama by Thursday afternoon,” said Spann.

Our team at Townsquare Media is paying close attention to this potential active weather system and will bring you all the necessary updates.
