I have great memories of my mother’s homemade ice cream sandwiches. Well, I should say almost homemade, the ice cream was whatever was on sale but the cookie portion was made with love.

I’ve had those ice cream sandwiches on my mind ever since I’ve seen The Baked Bear in the Midtown Village. Well, my lucky day magically came about unexpectedly. I figured it was a sign because a parking space opened up right in front of the shop.

Upon walking in, you are put in a happy place. I can see why, according to The Baked Bear, they have received “accolades from Forbes, Eater, Thrillist, and more.”

Presentation:

Everyone at The Baked Bear was super nice. As a first timer, they explained the process, pick your top & bottom cookie option, choose your ice cream, pick some toppings, and let them know if you want it warmed up.

Taste:

I was overwhelmed with all the choices. So after a few minutes, I went with a chocolate chip cookie top, snickerdoodle bottom, and cookies & cream ice cream. The flavors of the cookies I got were over-the-top incredible. I thought the ice cream was pretty good. I think I should have gotten a different type of ice cream flavor that complemented the cookies better.

Texture:

The two different cookies were completely delicious; I think I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie more than the Snickerdoodle. The ice cream was nice and creamy.

Value:

The ice cream sandwich that I got was under 10 bucks, so I think it was a little bit on the higher side for what I got. So, to me, this would be a “treat” item.

Overall:

Next time, I’m trying different cookie flavors and ice cream flavors and maybe even a topping or two. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere, super helpful staff, and enjoyed my “monstrous ice cream sandwich.” If you haven’t been yet, be sure to stop in.
