Wow! Alabama Officially Listed As One Of The Worst Places To Live
After years of living in Alabama, there are some things I now realize that I may have overlooked in years past.
As much as there are so many great things happening in Alabama and incredible sights to see and extraordinary people, Alabama isn't a great place to live.
Ok ok ok ok...
Don't get too upset at me just yet. It turns out that Alabama not being a great place to live isn't my opinion, but a fact with data to back it up.
Information has recently been released about the best and worst states to live in in the United States and guess which end of the spectrum Alabama landed.
You guessed it!
The Yellowhammer state is definitely one of the worst states to live in according to this Wallet Hub data.
How the Worst States Are Determined
The results of Wallet Hub's study showed Alabama ranking well below average in areas like:
- # of adults with poor health
- Percent of population in poverty
- Percent of population that's insured
- Average weekly work hours
- restaurants per capita
To determine the best and worst states to live in, Wallet Hub compared data from 50 states using five key dimensions:
- Education and Health
- Affordability
- Quality of Life
- Safety
- Economy
Where Alabama Ranks
The results of the study have Alabama ranked close to the bottom of the totem pole.
Out of 50 states, Alabama is listed at number 43. This makes Alabama the nation's 8th worst state to live in.
