Job seekers and students in Sumter County will have a unique chance to connect with employers at a major workforce event hosted by West AlabamaWorks on Wednesday, April 30, at the Livingston Civic Center.

The day kicks off from 9 a.m. to noon with two student-focused programs: WOW 2.0: Classroom to Career and the IGNITE Summer Job Fair. WOW 2.0 is designed for high school seniors preparing to join the workforce, offering them the chance to interview on-site with employers and receive immediate job offers. IGNITE targets rising 10th through 12th graders, connecting them with part-time, summer, and apprenticeship opportunities.

Later, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., the event opens to the broader community. Local job seekers will meet with regional employers from various industries, all in one place.

“Events like this help bridge the gap between education and employment,” said Donny Jones, Executive Director of West AlabamaWorks. “We’re giving students and community members real access to career opportunities.”
