Strong Winds and Hail Possible in Alabama Friday Forecast
As we continue to monitor weather conditions, we do have some good news to share. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has removed the severe weather threat for Saturday afternoon and evening. This is a change that football fans across the state will gladly celebrate.
While conditions look much more favorable, there is still a very low chance of isolated showers on Saturday. If you are headed to a football game, be sure to check conditions before you head to the stadium.
Friday Severe Threat Outlook
Risk Level and Affected Areas
There is still a threat today, Friday, November 7, for much of Alabama, including the entire Townsquare Media listening area. The Storm Prediction Center has most of the state under a "marginal risk" of severe thunderstorms.
Primary Concerns
The main concerns are for strong to severe thunderstorms that carry the risk of damaging winds up to 60 mph and large hail ahead of the approaching cold front.
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “With only modest instability and weak wind fields, the overall threat is low.”
Timeline
The storm system is expected between Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 2 a.m.
