The work week kicks off with warm temperatures across Yellowhammer State, reaching the low to mid-70s. Later on, you can expect rain with a slight chance of thunder. The rain tapers off tomorrow, turning to a sunny day with highs projected in the 60s.

We Are Monitoring Wednesday and Thursday

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Clouds will increase Wednesday, but the day will be dry with a high in the 60s. Another front will bring rain and a few thunderstorms into Alabama Wednesday night into Thanksgiving Day/Thursday.”

Does This Mean Severe Weather?

Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has not issued a severe weather notice. Also, models are not in agreement on timing, wind factors, and more. The weather scenario will become more clearly defined as we approach Thursday.

Spann said the “best idea is that the main window for rain and storms will come from about midnight Wednesday night through noon Thursday.”

“At some point, a "marginal risk" might be introduced, but with low instability values and unfavorable wind profiles, the overall severe thunderstorm risk looks low.”

Temps?

If you were one of the Alabamians who enjoyed the cold snap, no worries; the brief warm-up early this week will change drastically this weekend.

Across the Southern region, much colder air will settle in on Friday and throughout the holiday weekend.
