Hot & Humid Weather Triggers Heat Advisory in West Alabama
If you thought yesterday was hot, hold Mother Nature’s sweet tea, because the heat index value is on the rise today, as a heat dome is impacting the South and Midwest regions.

Don’t forget that the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
According to The Weather Channel, “The extreme heat continues with heat alerts in effect for millions from the Midwest down to the Gulf Coast.” And within those millions are portions of Alabama.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham continues a “Heat Advisory” until Tuesday, July 22, at 9 p.m.
Heat Hits Earlier Than You Think
Pay close attention to peak heating times, as conditions can become dangerous quickly. In Tuscaloosa County, for instance, the ‘feels like’ temp is expected to hit 100 °F at 10 a.m., climbing to 106 °F between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Even by 7 p.m., the heat will linger, with a ‘feels like’ temp of 99 °F.

Tracking the Heat Dome
“The triple-digit heat indices will finally shift east and impact the Northeast and mid-Atlantic by Friday and Saturday,” said The Weather Channel.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity creates conditions that feel even hotter than the actual temperature. This could lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which should be taken seriously.
