WARNING: It Is Illegal To Take Photos At These Alabama Locations
WHO KNEW?
Well, it is true that ignorance of the law is usually not a defense for a crime.
That's why I am working to inform you about laws that are seldom known but are very important.
We're trying to keep you out of jail.
First AND foremost:
It is ALWAYS against the law to trespass for any reason.
Even if you are just trying to get that killer pic that will get you a ton of likes.
Family photos or a quick photo to post on Instagram still need to be taken in a spot where it's legal to be at or in.
So, obviously that rules out any properties that are residential in nature. Don't walk into anyone's back yard or for heaven's sake their front door. Or back door for that matter.
Here are some other places that you can't take photos of or at, in Alabama.
Alabama RAILROAD tracks!
Yes, the Alabama Dept. of Transportation has the policy on their website stating that you "can not walk along tracks or take any photographs on railroad tracks".
That is a new one on me.
They say it is all about creating the safest environment for trains and that is the reason for the policy.
You shouldn't be hanging out at the railroad tracks.
This next one should be even more obvious but we have to include it.
Any and ALL private spaces like a BATHROOM STALL.
I had a traumatic experience as a kid in a Target store bathroom.
It involved an old extremely sick man that tried to get in the stall with me while I was using it!
He ASKED me if he could come in and "help me out a little bit".
What did you say?, I replied. He asked me again and I threatened to beat his a**.
I then chased him in the parking lot while waiting for police to arrive.
It has scarred me for life when it comes to public restrooms.
Polling places!
Yeah, NO photos are allowed to be taken at a polling place on any election day.
This seems kinda obvious but not everyone is aware of this law.
Taking a selfie of your ballot, however, is legal in Alabama. It is illegal in many other states.
AA/NA Meetings!
People in recovery need to be focused on recovery not photography.
Even in public places if the owner of the place asks you to stop taking a photo, Alabama law says you must stop taking photos immediately.
It's very tricky at times and we have only scratched the surface of this important topic.
