The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring a large multi-state and multi-day severe weather threat, which will track from the Plains and Midwest toward the East Coast.

The current forecast includes Alabama along this path on Thursday, which could impact portions of Alabama.

For today, Tuesday, June 17, and Wednesday, June 18, you can expect the typical Alabama summer weather behavior of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings.

The “chance of any one spot getting wet through Thursday will remain in the 60-70 percent,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

Thursday Severe Weather Outlook

Risk Level and Threat Areas

The Storm Prediction Center has several Alabama counties under a “Marginal Risk” for Thursday, mainly in the Northeastern section of Alabama, but does include two West Alabama counties of Bibb and Walker.

Timeline

There are still some “uncertainties remaining in coverage and timing,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham. Currently, the system's timing for Thursday is allocated to the afternoon and evening.
