Prolonged Period of Rainfall Forecasted for Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said, “A prolonged period of rainfall is forecast from late Sunday through early Wednesday.”
The most significant activity is anticipated on Tuesday, with rainfall projected to range between 1 and 3 inches. Higher amounts, up to 4 inches, are possible across portions of Southeast Central Alabama.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Rain will become widespread late this afternoon and tonight ahead of a warm front moving northward. Highs this afternoon will be in the 57-62 degree range.”
Multiple waves of rain, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms, are expected to sweep through on Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday could also bring severe thunderstorms along and southeast of a line from Selma to Rockford to Roanoke. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a "marginal risk" of severe thunderstorms. Damaging winds to 60 mph and a tornado or two will be possible in this area.
We will closely monitor this weather situation. Currently, the severe weather threat does not impact the Townsquare Media coverage area, but we will continue to watch the developing weather conditions.
