Major Recall! Alabama Families Urged to Check Juice Labels
Imagine pouring your child a glass of apple juice during breakfast—clear, crisp, and seemingly harmless. It’s a morning ritual in many Alabama households. But what if that bottle in your fridge isn’t as safe as it looks?
A widespread recall is now making waves across 28 states, including Alabama, after a popular apple juice brand was flagged for potential contamination with a harmful toxin. The issue centers around a substance called patulin—a mold byproduct that can cause damage to internal organs when consumed in high amounts.
While most exposure might only lead to temporary discomfort, the FDA has classified the recall as Class II, indicating the risk of medically reversible effects.

So, what should you be looking for?
Check for Martinelli’s 10-ounce Apple Juice in clear, round glass bottles with white metal screw-top lids. The affected bottles were sold in 4-packs, have the UPC code “0 41244 04102 2,” and a best-by date of December 5, 2026.
Roughly 173,616 bottles are part of this recall, and they’ve been stocked in grocery stores right here in Alabama. If you've purchased one, it's best to stop using it immediately.
For concerns or health symptoms after drinking the juice, contact your healthcare provider. You can also reach the FDA for questions at 1-888-INFO-FDA (1-888-463-6332).
Your family’s safety might be just one label check away.
