I Dream Big Charter School and Stillman College Break Ground

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for I Dream Big Charter School, held on April 29, marks a significant advancement in educational opportunities in Alabama, particularly for the Tuscaloosa community. This pioneering partnership with Stillman College represents the state's first collaboration between a historically black college and a charter school, setting a precedent for future educational initiatives.
Scheduled to open in Fall 2025, I Dream Big Charter School will initially serve students in grades 6 through 8, expanding to include additional grades in subsequent years. The school is already witnessing considerable interest, with some grade levels reaching capacity and a wait list in place for eager families.
As the only tuition-free charter school in Tuscaloosa, I Dream Big Charter aims to provide families with a unique educational choice, emphasizing a personalized learning approach through the Big Picture Learning model. This methodology focuses on nurturing students' interests and facilitating their exploration of career pathways.
The new facility will be located next to Stillman College's Harte Center, home to its School of Education, further reinforcing the connection between the two institutions. This collaboration represents a forward-thinking approach to education, one that integrates community resources and academic opportunities in a way that promises to impact the Tuscaloosa area positively.
