
Flood Warning Issued for Some Alabama Rivers: What Residents Should Know
The Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham continues for the following rivers in Alabama.

Tombigbee River At Demopolis Lock and Dam
Counties
Greene, Hale, Sumter, and Marengo.

This warning is now in effect from Wednesday, May 14, through early Saturday morning, May 17.
Impacts
At 68.0 feet, Flooding of lowlands in the area occurs, and cattle should be moved to higher ground.

"The river is expected to rise above flood stage Wednesday morning to a crest of 68.8 feet early Thursday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Friday afternoon,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

This warning is now in effect through Saturday, May 17, in the afternoon.
Impacts
“At 90.0 feet, Pasture and wood lands begin to flood. Livestock should be moved to higher ground at stages above 90 feet. At 94.0 feet, Between 94 and 97 feet, some secondary roads near Lock 5 park and Sandpiper Road begin to flood and could cut off residents,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

The river is expected to rise above flood stage to a crest of 94.4 feet early Wednesday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.
