Advisory: Muggy Conditions + Rising Heat Indices Across Alabama
Alabamians have had their fair share of hot and muggy summer days, and that trend is going to continue.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has expressed concern about increasing heat index values, along with humid conditions, over the next few days.
Wet Weather Chances
You can expect the typical summertime weather pattern to persist over the next few days. “A few random, scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
“The chance of any one specific spot seeing rain daily is 25-35 percent, and most (but not all) of the showers will come from 1:00 until 10:00 p.m.”
Muggy Conditions + Moderate to Major Heat
A “Moderate to Major Heart Risk” is in effect for Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, across Alabama.
As temperatures reach the low to mid-90s, paired with humid conditions, West Alabama communities could experience heat indices as high as 108 °F.
“This means those in heat-sensitive groups and those without effective cooling or hydration will be most at risk,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
