Welcome to the last week of July and entering the first week of August. Find out what that means for the weather this week.

James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said you can expect typical August weather: “Partly sunny days, the chance of a pop-up afternoon storm in spots, and highs in the low to mid-90s.”

Good news is on the way for those tired of the shower and thunderstorm pattern. The chance “of any one spot getting wet will drop into the 20-30 percent range over the latter half of the week,” said Spann.

This week, the concern is the rising temperatures and heat index values. There is a heat advisory for portions of Alabama. Click here to read more about the weather alert.
