
Excessive Rainfall Prompts Flood Watch for Portions of Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flood Watch that is in effect until Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m.

Residents should know that flooding may occur in saturated areas due to heavy rainfall.

Here are all the counties under the flood watch: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.
Impacts
Heavy runoff could lead to the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying, flood-prone areas. This may cause creeks and streams to overflow their banks.
Be Prepared
“You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham. “Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”
