As the severe weather threat passed through our area early this morning, “Thanksgiving looks good for most of central Alabama, aside from breeziness and a gradual fall in temperatures through the rest of the day,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Following this weather system, cold air is expected to move in and linger over the region for a few days.

Portions of the United States are having a snow-filled Thanksgiving. The Weather Channel said, “Some accumulating snow is expected mainly in the higher elevations from West Virginia to Pennsylvania, upstate New York, and northern New England. Some lake-effect snow is likely to develop in the Michigan snow belts.”

In the southern region, there is a chilly change ahead.

Before daybreak, Alabamians experience temperatures in the low to mid-60s. But after daybreak, West Alabama's temperatures fall quickly to the mid-50s.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said, “Many locations will slip into the 20s for the morning, with lower 20s on the board for communities near and north of Interstate 20.”
