Of course, certain institutions have always received a wink and a nod from national publications, such as Dreamland BBQ and others.

This particular restaurant has been featured in Esquire and has gained considerable fame due to its impressive Yelp reviews.

They have also gained one of the most prestigious nominations from the James Beard Foundation for their chef, Rob McDaniel.

I’m more than a little disappointed that this restaurant has as much fame and attention as it does, and I have never dined there.

Are you familiar with this establishment?

Its location is in Birmingham, Alabama, and the name is Helen.

The Helen website notes that Chef McDaniel has been nominated for the James Beard Award six times in his career.

The website that is giving out this award describes it this way: “The list is a duration of restaurants that thrill and excite us, serve exceptional food, and also offer comfort or are more daring than most.”

Helen’s is the only restaurant in the state to make the list, and it just happens to be sandwiched between famous restaurants in Chicago and Dallas.

The list aims to define dining today with its prestigious list of 100 restaurants that are some of the best in the country, in its maybe not-so-humble opinion.
