It seems like 2025 won't give us fewer recalls on food than the previous year. Looking at the numbers, the recalls are going to not only keep coming but may be more serious.

In January of 2025, it was reported that a total of 2,023 cases of the chicken broth were included in the recall, each case containing six cartons. These items are marked with a "best used by" date of March 25, 2026, and feature the UPC code "007874206684."

The recalled broth has now been updated to a Class II risk level by the FDA.

According to the FDA's website, a "Class II" recall means: "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

In December of 2024, the FDA issued a recall for broccoli sold at Walmart. Recently, that recall has been upgraded as the product could cause serious illness.

According to the Hill, the Food and Drug Administration has upgraded the recall to its highest classification level.

The broccoli had been distributed to Walmart stores in 20 states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

No illnesses had been reported at the time of the initial advisory. Consumers were advised to throw away the potentially affected product and contact Braga Fresh with any other concerns.

In late January, however, the FDA upgraded the recall to a Class I, the FDA’s website shows.

Class I, the FDA says, involves “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”
