Ryan Williams and Isaiah Horton Link Up with DeVonta Smith for Training
TAMPA, Fla. - After a stellar freshman season at Alabama, racking up 868 yards and eight touchdowns, Ryan Williams is poised to make an even greater impact and potentially cement his legacy in Crimson Tide history this upcoming season.

Williams' dedication to improvement and his desire to add to Alabama's greatness are evident in his off-season activities. Recognizing the value of learning from those who achieved success at Alabama and continue to in the NFL, Williams sought out the guidance of DeVonta Smith. By training with Smith, Williams will absorb invaluable knowledge and refine his techniques.
Comparisons between Williams and former Crimson Tide standout Smith are common, owing to their similar builds and playmaking abilities. Both possess a lean, explosive speed and a knack for creating separation. Williams has embraced these comparisons, even requesting the same training regimen as Smith upon arriving at Alabama.
This commitment highlights Williams' ambition to match or surpass Smith's legacy, which included 3,965 career yards, 46 touchdowns, the 2020 Heisman Trophy, and two national championships (2017 and 2020). Soon after joining Alabama, Williams made it clear he wanted to follow Smith's training blueprint. Confident in his potential, Williams playfully declared his intentions after Week 2 of college football, naming Smith as the top receiver in Crimson Tide history but adding, "don't think I ain't coming for you, my boy," expressing how he wanted to surpass Smith.
This offseason, Williams has been honing his skills and adding strength, training alongside Smith in Tampa with Coach Yo Murphy. Fellow Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Horton also joined these sessions. This collaboration highlights the significant influence of former Crimson Tide players and the commitment of current players to uphold the program's culture of excellence.
