DeVonta Smith, WR - 2020
Bryce Young, QB - 2021

Alabama has had other finalists for the award, including wide receiver Amari Cooper, quarterback A.J. McCarron, and quarterback Mac Jones.

Former Heisman Trophy winner (1991) and current College Gameday host Desmond Howard said on Saturday in Tuscaloosa that he could see another Heisman Trophy winner in the near future for Alabama with the way Ty Simpson has played.

"Ty Simpson isn't just balling right now," Howard said on College Gameday. "Alabama's quarterback Ty Simpson right now has played himself into the Heisman conversation. After the Florida State game, this kid has completed 70% of his passes, 11 touchdown passes, and he's protected the ball, no turnovers.

"Now they get Jam Miller back, the running back, he was the second-leading rusher a year ago. Last time these two teams (Alabama and Vanderbilt) played, Vandy owned the time of possession, kept the ball for over 40 minutes, and Alabama had it less than 20. If Alabama is able to run the ball, get that ground game going, I think they'll be okay. It gives them the balance they're gonna need in their offense."

Alabama and Vanderbilt will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
