The Panthers haven't had much success this season and have not see much progress in their quarterback room. Former Alabama quarterback and the 2023 No.1 draft pick Bryce Young was benched heading into week two of the National Football League.

After his benching, the Panthers turned to veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, hoping for some improvement. However, the Panthers have continued to struggle, and not much advancement has been seen. Dalton has been playing since week three, but heading into week eight, he and his family were involved in a car crash on Tuesday, leaving him with a sprained right thumb.

On Wednesday, coach Dave Canales announced that the panthers will turn to Young for week eight in their matchup against Bo Nix and the Broncos. At the moment, Dalton will continue to be evaluated to see if he will be the backup for Young.

After having some time to evaluate veteran play and continue to learn, the staff is excited to see Young have another chance at QB1. "He's excited about it," Canales said. "He's been an absolute stud through this whole process. He's been engaged and involved in what we're doing, and so he's excited about this opportunity. I'm fired up for him to have another opportunity to get in there and play some football."

The Panthers will be traveling to Denver, Colorado, the Broncos currently have a record of 4-3 while the Panthers are 1-6. This Broncos team has been a challenge for some as they boast a great roster, but this will be a chance for Young to continue his learning process against great competition.

Young currently has a record of 37/65 completions for 299 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions, while ESPN projects him to have 90/158 completions for 726 yards for the 2024-25 season. As Young attempts to reclaim his position, this return from a break could begin his road to redemption.
