On April 23rd and 24th, the Tuscaloosa Police Department has been conducting a check of all sex offenders living within the city limits and today 17 were found in violation.

During the investigation, 114 sex offenders were checked. 22 of them were found in violation and 17 were subsequently arrested. Most of the individuals were charged with failure to register as a sex offender and Monica Renee Dixon was not a sex offender, but has been charged with failing to register a juvenile as a sex offender.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department Facebook page, "One of the offenders is in custody in another county and four still have active warrants on them."

The arrests were made by U.S. Marshals and juvenile division investigators.
