Alabama Governor Robert Bentley indicates that he supports increasing U.S. trade with Cuba, saying it would benefit Alabama businesses and help change the Communist country.

Bentley was questioned about President Obama's visit to Cuba. Obama is the first U.S. president to visit the island nation since 1928.

"If you begin free trade with a Communist country, allow them to develop their own businesses, they don't remain communistic," Bentley said. "They become a free society when they're able to make money themselves and we increase trade with them and allow them to really produce products."

It is reported that in February, the Treasury Department approved an Alabama company's request to open the very first U.S. factory in Cuba since 1959.
