Did You Know --- In 1949 Lionel Hampton was the first black musician to perform for a Presidential Inauguration, which was for Harry S. Truman.

On Hampton's 94th birthday, the U.S. Congress honored by passing a resolution decribing him as one of the all-time great jazz musicians.
