In his State of the Union address last night, as expected, President Obama detailed his agenda for the next two years, which he called "middle-class economics" while he also threatened to use his veto pen to strike down the Republican leadership's efforts to dismantle his signature accomplishments.

President Obama will visit Selma on March 7 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of historic civil rights marches across the state.  The trip will also highlight the upcoming 50th anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act.

According to Tuscaloosa Police, 20-year-old Scott Anthony Schaetzle was arrested yesterday in connection to a September report where the victim was a 15-year-old female.  Schaetzle was charged with one count of Sodomy 2nd degree and 1 count of Rape 2nd Degree.  He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $20,000 bond.

Last night, President Obama had no problem taking credit for the economic upturn from the historic recession we were in when he took office six years ago. He said that the crisis is over. The jobless rate is currently well below 6 percent, and the stock market is nearing record highs.

Today in Montgomery, Gov. Bentley is scheduled to discuss job creation and economic development with the Economic Development Association, the people who are on the front line of those issues.

Our daily reports that Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson and 20-year-old Sierra Patterson were both arrested yesterday on misdemeanor domestic violence charges. Anderson is accused of kicking Patterson's vehicle during an argument. She had keyed and thrown coins at his vehicle. Neither showed signs of physical injury.

Details have been released for Saturday's parade and community celebration for WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder. According to our daily, festivities will begin at 2pm. The parade will start at 13th St and Greensboro Ave and end at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, where a community celebration will begin at 2:45. Free parking will be available at the intermodal facility parking deck.
