The First In The NBA – Black History
In 1961, Wilt Chamberlain, then with the Philadelphia 76ers, was the first professional player to score more than 3,000 points in one season. During the 1961--62 season he scored 4,029 points and became the first player to score more than 4,000 points in a single season.
Chamberlain was also the first black player to score 100 points in a single season.
