Those of you who have filed your tax return online could experience delays in receiving a refund.

A undetermined number of online tax processing systems, including the "Where's My Refund" tool, were inoperative on yesterday caused by "hardware malfunction," as reported by Internal Revenue officials.

In a prepared statement released by the Internal Revenue Service it stated: "At this time there is no major refund disruption; we continue to expect 9 out of 10 taxpayers will receive their refunds within 21 days."

According to the IRS taxpayers can continue to file returns and forward these forms to e-filing providers until the system is operational again.
