Alabama's Shannon Hale was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 17 points and five rebounds against Ole Miss and Auburn this week.

The Johnson City, Tennessee, native continued his strong play in conference games this season. His contributions for the Crimson Tide included shooting 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the floor, 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from beyond the arc and 90.9 percent (10-of-11) from the free throw line.

After scoring in double-figures just once in 13 non-conference games, Hale has reached that mark in 10 out of 16 SEC games. He becomes the first Alabama freshman to receive this accolade since Trevor Releford did so in 2011.
