Many counties around West Alabama, including Tuscaloosa are under winter weather related advisories overnight. This has led to some area schools to announce delayed openings for Monday.

At this time none of the school systems have announced closings. There are a few delays.

School Delays for Monday (February 23rd):

Bevill State Community College - open at 11am
Fayette County Schools - 3-hr delay
Pickens Academy - open at 10am
Pickens County Schools - 3-hr delay

There is a threat for an winter weather overnight which may lead to road travel hazards. Here are few maps from the National Weather Service Birmingham to give you a better idea visually of the posted advisories for the area.

The map below of central part of the state includes counties in West Alabama and the advisories posted through Monday morning (Feb. 23). Tucaloosa and Pickens County have been issued Freezing Rain Advisories overnight. Lamar, Fayette and Walker County have been issued a Winter Weather Advisory.
