No Football Caused African American Male Enrollment At UAB To Go Down

UAB’s racial composition changed dramatically when UAB president Ray Watts announced the demise of football, rifle, and bowling last year.

Of the 105 players on Blazers football roster 89 were African-Americans according to the College Sports Solutions report issued last week to the Athletic Assessment Task Force.

According to UAB enrollment data those 89 students represented almost 12 percent of the total male African American undergraduate enrollment in 2014

If UAB doesn’t reinstate football the opportunities to receive a free education at a quality academic institution may be gone forever.
