It looks like Tuscaloosa will be eating more chicken in the near future. A new Chick-Fil-A location is being built on the south side of town near the intersection of Skyland Boulevard and Highway 69. An opening date has not been announced.

Surprisingly, this new store will only be the second full-service location in town. While there are currently five Chick-Fil-A locations, one is a drive-thru only and two are in food courts on campus (Lloyd Hall and the Ferguson Center). Northport has the only stand-alone, full-sized location for the fast food chicken restaurant.

If you aren't familiar with the opening of a new Chick-Fil-A, you might want to learn more about their 'First 100' program. They will reward the first 100 customers into a new store with one free meal every week for one year. This giveaway grew so large that people were camping outside the store for days before a store opened. The company has revised the process and made it less time-consuming for those hoping to score some free chicken. If more than 100 people are present to win before the opening, they will proceed with a raffle as the website states:

  • 100 individuals will win a Number via the Raffle. If they complete and sign the Giveaway’s Release and Waiver, they will be invited to remain at the Restaurant for 24 hours and become a Participant in the Giveaway.
  • After the First 100 Winners have been chosen, an additional 10 individuals will win a Number via the Raffle. If they complete and sign the Giveaway’s Release and Waiver, they will be invited to remain at the Restaurant for 24 hours and become an Alternate in the Giveaway.
Is that too much stress and time for you or will you be one of those on site before the location opens? Let us know in the poll below.
