Mother’s Day Ideas for Moms in Tuscaloosa
Mother's Day will be here soon and there's nothing worse than waiting to pick out a gift for the woman that's taken care of you since day one. Let's us help you think of some great ideas that the most important woman in your life will surely enjoy.
University Mall on McFarland Blvd will be running its annual Mother-Daughter Look Alike Contest. This idea won't work for everyone (sorry guys), but for those that qualify, take an hour or two to spend some quality time with your mother by attending this contest. Have a great time by dressing up and showing off your best side - mom's! Registration begins on Saturday, May 11, at 12 p.m. and the contest begins at 1 p.m.
Don't let the name fool you, Five is much more than a bar. This downtown restaurant has a unique decor and feels like it belongs in a bigger city. Take your mother to brunch with the option to sit outside if the weather is nice. The brunch menu is served from 10 a.m - 3 p.m. and ranges from 'Wings 'n' Waffles' to 'Shrimp 'n' Grits'. There's also a coffee shop connected if you want to sit and chat.
Drive just a few blocks down the road from Five Bar and you'll be alongside the Black Warrior River. Park at one of the parking lots off Jack Warner Parkway and just hop right on the trail. Riverwalk is around three miles long from end to end and runs from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to Manderson Landing. Even if it's hot outside, there's a lot of shade as you wind through the patches of woods along the river. Plus, there are plenty of parks and benches to stop off and take a break. It might not be the most expensive gift, but you'll get the invaluable experience of spending time together.
If there's one thing that we probably all agree on, it's that being a mom is not an easy job. Mother's Day should be about rest and relaxation. One perfect way to make sure mom has a stress-free day is treating her to a day of beauty. Our day spa expert, Nancy Taylor Day Spa and Salon, can provide you with any information you need to make mom happy.
