In the wake of the March 22 terror attacks in Belgium, Mariah Carey has cancelled her upcoming Brussels show.

The pop/R&B icon, who is currently on her 2016 European Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, was previously scheduled to perform at the Forest National Area on Easter Sunday, March 27 — also Carey's birthday. In light of Tuesday's Level 4 terrorist attacks, in which at least 31 people were killed and over 300 left wounded, Carey has been advised to cancel her performance.

In an announcement posted to Twitter on March 25, the "Infinity" singer wrote, "I love my fans in Brussels and at this time I am being advised to cancel my show for the safety of my fans, my band, crew and everyone involved with the tour. I hope to see you soon and send my prayers and eternal love, laughter and light to my Lambs."

On Wednesday (March 23), the diva shared a message of prayer for the people of Brussels on her Instagram:

Carey's decision to cancel her Brussels performance comes as no surprise. Following the November 13, 2015 terror attacks in Paris, countless bands and musicians, including U2, Coldplay, Motorhead, Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson, Years & Years, and Rudimental, either cancelled or postponed their Parisian or European shows.
