Former Alabama running back Kerry Goode was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year and announced the heartbreaking news on Facebook.

In his message to family, friends, and fans, Goode shared a powerful message about battling the disease and continuing to live his life. He also asked fans to greet him if they ever saw him out.

On Thursday, the Town Creek native posted another update on Facebook to thank everyone that had sent him greeting cards and well wishes. Among those messages he has received is a voicemail from Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Goode shares the entire voicemail, which gives fans a look at the compassionate side of the fiery coach that many don't get to see.

"It meant a lot to me that he took time out of his schedule to reach out to me," Goode says in the video. "It shows me that when I selected the University of Alabama that it was the right decision for me as well as my brothers."

Here's the video and the voicemail from Nick Saban.

Winning is not a sometime thing. It's an all the time thing! Thank You ..... Coach Saban
