The dramatic national championship game between Alabama and Georgia ended up being the second most-watched cable event ever, but you might be surprised to find out that one Bama great was not among that group.

Julio Jones, a former All-SEC wide receiver for the Crimson Tide who currently lives and plays in Atlanta, fell asleep during the College Football Playoff Championship Game that was being played in his home stadium. During a press conference to announce his ownership in two auto dealerships in Tuscaloosa earlier today, Jones was asked about the comeback victory three weeks ago.

"I'm sorry to say that I was asleep. I didn't get to watch it. I had a game of my own. I knew they was going to take care of business but I fell asleep. I watched the first quarter, both offensive drives, then I fell asleep. I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'Whoo, that was a close one.'

"As long as we came out victorious, that's all that matters. You know, we brought another national championship to Tuscaloosa, Alabama."

Jones and his Falcons teammates were two days removed from a Wild Card Round victory over the Los Angeles Rams and preparing to face eventual NFC Champion Philadelphia a few days later. He said it's always difficult to follow his former team because he has to spend time focusing on his own preparation.

"It's kind of hard to kinda stay up and watch them because I have to get my proper sleep to go out and perform the way I need to go out and perform. Because I want to go out and perform for you guys. You know I can't go out there and put out bad stuff. I'm from Alabama. I can't go out there and put out some Georgia."

"That's too far, that's too soon? That might be too soon."
