The Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum will host a limited seating lunch and discussion with ABC 33/40 meteorologist, James Spann on Thursday, May 30th.  Spann’s discussion at the Transportation Museum will begin at 11:30am and will include topics such as severe weather in the southeast and disaster preparedness. He also will recount his first-hand experience of reporting on April 27, 2011 and how communities recover after natural disasters.

The current exhibit chronicles stories of Tuscaloosa’s first responders, volunteers, survivors and community leaders on the day of the April 27, 2011 tornado. The display of oral histories, documentaries and photographs show Tuscaloosa’s progress two years into the recovery. The exhibit will run through June 7.

Spann began his career in Tuscaloosa in 1973 at WTBC-AM radio. He is the founder of The Weather Company and has been named Alabama’s best weather anchor nine times by the Associated Press.
