Dolly Parton, perhaps Tennessee’s greatest gift to the world, has partnered with Netflix this holiday season to create a glamorous Christmas spectacular called “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square.”

In the upcoming musical, Parton plays an angel hoping to reform a cold-hearted woman (played by Christine Branski) who, after her father’s unfortunate death, is trying to sell her town’s land before Christmas Day. With extravagant musical numbers, the queen of glamour herself, and more holiday cheer than one could ever hope for, this film is going to give Hallmark a run for their money this Christmas season.

The trailer for the film, which dropped last week, features 14 original musical numbers written by Parton and was directed by Debbie Allen, who is known for her work on "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Fame." It features Parton, Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, Josh Segarra, Mary Lane Haskell, Matthew Johnson and Selah Kimbro Jones.

Parton also announced that she’ll be releasing her first Christmas album in 20 years. “A Holly Dolly Christmas” will feature a title track called “Christmas on the Square” in preparation for the film’s upcoming release.

Parton has worked with Netflix in the past. “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” is a miniseries about her musical work, with each episode named after some of her most iconic songs. While this film looks like it’s taken a piece from every Christmas cliché in the book, this holiday special could be exactly what everybody needs to spread some Christmas cheer.

Parton is here to save a dark and dreary 2020 with a sparkling Christmas dream. “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square” premieres exclusively on Netflix on Nov. 22.
