Mother's Day is this weekend, and if you haven't already decided what you're going to do for your mom, here's an idea that will make her feel special while other mothers also benefit. If you've already decided what you want to do, add this! This Friday, May 8, off-duty Northport Fire Rescue Firefighters will be delivering arrangements from Tuscaloosa Flower Shoppe.  According to the Tuscaloosa Flower Shoppe, all delivery fees and tips will be donated towards the purchase of Giraffe OmniBeds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The beds not only save the lives of the most premature babies, but they also help save their vision, their lungs, and their brain function, according to Molly Ingram, vice president of development for The DCH Foundation.

Those who are interested in joining The Tuscaloosa Flower Shoppe and Northport Fire Rescue’s effort can visit www.tuscaloosaflowershoppe.com. To find out more, visit www.thedchfoundation.org.

Of course, ANYTHING dealing with premature babies is important to me. I'm all for anything that helps preemie babies as well as their families' well-being.  So, I just might be sending some flowers to myself.... Wait! Will these off-duty firefighters still be in uniform? I mean, I AM getting the flowers to support the cause, not because I love to see men in uniform.  Okay, maybe that's a contributing factor too.  Just a little.
