Traveling to or through the Magic City this weekend? You may want to consider an alternate route--road work in Birmingham will reduce traffic on a portion of I-65 South to just one lane.

Beginning tomorrow (Friday, April 8, 2016), the Alabama Department of Transportation will close the left two southbound lanes of I-65 in order to complete work associated with raising the bridges over I-65 North. After this work is completed, the right two southbound lanes will be closed as crews continue to work on the project.

Work will continue the following weekend, April 15 through April 17, and continue through Wednesday, April 20, 2016 (weather permitting).

This work is part of the I-59/20 Bridge Replacement Project. You can read more about the project on its official website HERE, and you can follow its Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates.
