Each day as I drive around the city of Tuscaloosa I see an alarming number of distracted drivers. Usually they are talking on the phone or texting, but I have also witnessed some who appear to be reading the newspaper, putting on makeup, and eating while attempting to drive a car at 75+ miles per hour! In some cases, distractions are fleeting and harmless. In a moving vehicle, that's one that can be deadly.

At times distractions can be a problem in ones relationship with God. In fact, that was the central concern Jesus had for His friend Martha in the scriptures. (Luke 10:40). Martha's distractions were well-intentioned. However, she was missing the opportunity to listen to Jesus and enjoy His presence. Jesus is quite deserving of our deepest devotion, and He alone can fully enable us to overcome any of life's distractions.
