There was recently a fire at an apartment complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And what did the news station do?  What they always do. Found the most ignorant person available to interview.

What I want to say is, "If you don't sit your Sweet Brown-wannabe behind down somewhere and stop cooning for these white folks....."

But since I'm boughetto, I'll lean more towards the "bou" side today.

 I'm Tired!

I'm tired of the ignorance we display and think it's funny,

Willing to make fools of ourselves for a little bit of money.

I'm tired of turning on the news and seeing nothing but black faces

Tearing up our own neighborhoods, shooting into occupied places.

I'm tired of black women's worth being diminished to how well we gyrate

Like we have to use our physical assets in order to attract a mate.

I'm tired of not being taken seriously by my professional counterpart

Because we fail to understand that to the media, there's an art.

Do you honestly think there's no good news to spread?

No one was around with sense in his or her head?

Is the most ignorant of witnesses the only one interviewed?

Or is it a matter of gaining ratings, using the lewd, rude, and crude?

We holler about stereotypes and then add fuel to the fires

Show up for job interviews with pants sagging and wonder why we're the ones no one hires.

We see a television camera and run to put our faces in front of it

What really happened? How we feel? The media cares about none of it!

Yeah, we give them their laughs, sometimes even to the point of tears

While some are working to progress OUR nation, others are setting us back by years.

I'm tired of fighting a battle for my sisters and my brothers who don't even want to win

Or break even for that matter, as if progression is a sin.

Whether viewed positively or negatively, we're content with being the next sensation,

But once the lights are dim and the camera's off, we're only remembered as the most famous in Coon Nation.

I'm tired.
