In Tuscaloosa, we have an abundance of fresh clean swimming pools to go to this Summer. More people than ever have pools in their backyard. That wasn't the case where I grew up. We went swimming in the Cypress Hole on County Rd 21 in Coffeeville. Oh, and Bassets Creek.

The water was cold and clean and the color of iced tea. Some of the holes seemed to have and endless bottom. We had boards nailed to trees to climb to the highest limb to jump. There were old car steering wheel "Swings" hanging from the trees too. Double somersault anyone?

So, where are the best swimming holes for a cool Tuscaloosa Summer? I always see folks floating around in Hurricane Creek on Hwy 216 in the late Spring and Summer. It's sure is a pretty place to go.

I asked this question on air this morning and had some really great suggestions: Have you ever been swimming at any of these?

    The Cliffs - Lake Nicol

Past the Spill Way in North River, The Cliffs at Lake Nicol was a popular spot for teens and adults to gather. There's plenty to do here, and you'll often see cliff jumping even though it's technically not allowed.
