Friends and family of Jakell Mitchell gathered on Monday to mourn the loss of the Auburn freshman.

The candlelight vigil began as an idea from a friend of Mitchell's at Opelika High School who posted the Facebook, where it took off. Hundreds of people from around the Auburn and Opelika communities showed up at the Lee County Courthouse to remember the 18-year-old.

Mitchell was shot and killed Sunday morning at an off-campus party. Markale Heart, 22, is being held at the Lee County Detention Center on $500,000 bail.

Watch some video from Monday's vigil below, which was shared by Demond Moore on Facebook.
