According to State Rep. Ed Henry a resolution establishing a committee to investigate impeachment of Gov. Robert Bentley would be introduced on Wednesday and come up for a vote in the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Rep. Henry filed impeachment articles against Bentley two weeks ago, indicating that by placing the process into motion is rather challenging because it is almost without precedent in the State of Alabama. The state Constitution allows impeachment of the governor by the House but has very few details about how it should be done.

The actual resolution calls for a 15-member committee of House members to actually investigate the impeachment charges. The House majority and minority leaders would select the members. This committee would reflect the proportional breakdown of the House by party, race and gender.

It has been predicted that there will be overwhelming support for the resolution. If approved, the committee will be named within three to five days.
