The Alabama football team worked out indoors on the first day of spring practice as players had the first chance to fight for a number of open positions.

While there is plenty to watch this spring, the quarterbacks took center stage on Friday as Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin try to find a replacement for Blake Sims. The second-year offensive coordinator worked with the signal callers as they worked on different throws while he looked on.

Jake Coker, who backed up Sims a year ago, was taking the first snaps under center as camp broke. Many analysts consider him the front runner to win the job, but he's competing with a number of talented passers.

Among that group is true freshman Blake Barnett. The five-star California native looked like a first-year player physically in his Crimson Tide debut, but he threw a nice ball during the media viewing period. He'll push the upperclassmen for time, but he was the last quarterback through each drill on day one.

Take a look a the videos from practice, which includes a look at running backs, wide receivers, and analysis on the quarterbacks.
