500 Pounds of Marijuana Found in Birmingham
Birmingham Police found nearly 500 pounds of marijuana in a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop. Police department spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams Jr. said that the truck was stopped just before noon on Tuesday near the Airport Boulevard exit on Interstate 20/59.
He said officers found more than 490 pounds of marijuana and estimated the street value at about $1,000 per pound. Willams says the driver of the truck was arrested, but his name wasn't immediately released.
