On Thursday, August 20 from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and West Alabama AHEC will host the 3rd Annual Community Mental Health Summit entitled “Sustaining Our Joint Commitment to Improve the Mental Health of Veterans and Their Families” at the Hotel Capstone.

The free event is open to providers, community stakeholders, veterans and their families. Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox will deliver the keynote address.  Lunch provided for those who pre-register, although registration will also be available on-site.

Topics to be discussed include the following: Opioid Training, Military Culture, Veterans Choice Act, Red Cross Reconnection Workshops, Mental Health Challenges in Alabama, and so much more.  In addition, Free Healthcare Provider CEUs are available (Physicians, Social Workers and Nursing).
